The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) is a not-for-profit organization based in Columbia, Missouri that aims to research and prevent orthopedic and hereditary diseases in animals. It focuses on dogs, though also studies other companion animals such as cats. It has contributed nearly $3 million to researchers and maintains a database of results from its studies on its website The OFA was founded by John M. Olin in 1966, after several of his dogs became affected by hip dysplasia.
